C O P Y 1785. H6/KB24715. Re Steering Wobbles. N-W. Handwritten: Copy to CP and Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} 26.7.W 24th July 1915. We are in receipt this morning of a memo from Mr Northey informing us that you are about to carry out some experiments with a pair of 7" Palmer Tyres, so as to obtain accurate data with reference to steering wobbles, by which we assume low speed steering wobbles to be meant. We are, as you know, very greatly interested in this matter, as from time to time we have cases, the difficulty of curing which causes us great trouble. Do you wish us to advise you if we get an aggravated case, so that you may send someone to go into it here with us ? We might remind you that we have not yet had in Mr Frank Whiteley's Rolls-Royce car No.1753. for the fitting of the heavier H series type side steering tube. The car was, as you know sent out by us with a totally irregular pivot lean and we think were we to get the car in again at sometime convenient to Mr Whiteley we should probably get an aggravated steering wobble if we were to return the pivot lean to standard. We do not like to say that we should get this wobble definitely, | ||
