Y4583. To H.C. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.10/HP.8.11.32. c. [redacted] re Bensport J.1. - Existing engine unit. Rear engine torque arms. We send you herewith LeC.3269 showing a scheme enabling you to deal with the torque arms for carrying the existing J.1. engine unit in the first Bensport chassis. Many of the parts shown are existing standard parts, and the numbers are specified. The dashboard shown is the final design intended for Bensport, but it has to be cut away locally where specified to clear the clutch casing. We do not think a stiffener will be necessary where the dashboard is cut, but one may be added later if required. A local pocket is required in the dash to clear the rear cover on the cylinder head, but HW. will deal with this point on the final design. The bracket on the outside of the frame securing the dash is the one shown on the final design for Bensport, but the bracket inside the side channel is a special one for this first engine only. A print of LeC.3269 is attached to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s copy of this memo. In connection with the engine unit, we would point out that the tubular arm fixed in the crankcase has to be shortened. Blueprint LeC.3269 attached. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
