Below is copy of Bs{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager}/JL28.2.38, which is circulated in accordance with Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s instructions :-

" Daily Telephone Call - Derby

I am requested by Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} to point out that the afternoon telephone call is apparently being used for purposes other than those of urgency. This has necessitated the normal fifteen minute call being extended, and in some cases this extension has been as much as fifty-eight minutes. It is quite common for the call to be extended thirty minutes per day.

Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} requests that the afternoon call between London and Derby should only be utilized where the matter is of sufficient urgency and importance to justify a trunk telephone call being employed. It is hoped that the staff will co-operate in this effort, with a view to reducing the cost of this special telephone service, which is very expensive to maintain.

Bs.{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager} "

Will you please bring this to the notice of all concerned.

D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}
