X995 RE. CHASSIS INSTRUCTION BOOK, AND USE OF BENZOLE.
X.53

With reference to your memo Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}/Wl/CK{Mr Clark}4.2.20, in recommending the use of Benzole mixture, I do not think that at any time we should exceed 25%.

Also, I do not think that the mixing of the Benzol with the petrol should be recommended unless the petrol is of an inferior quality.

We should at the same time take advantage of recommending them to use the best quality spirit. If Aviation spirit is used, Benzol should certainly not be used. If an ordinary good spirit is used, such as best Motor Spirit, Shell, Mex, or Pratt's, no Benzole should be used, but with a spirit which is not up to this quality, we recommend 25% Benzole.

I should like this point to be confirmed by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
