C. to - [Strikethrough: BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}] HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EFC. CAR CLOCKS

Regarding the Watford, I don't like the sound of BY's description of the face winder, having a strangely shaped glass - (i.e. not circular.)

It was arranged at WW. by Mr. North, DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} and R.{Sir Henry Royce}, to try a side winder which should be suitable for patch instruments, or ordinary instrument board.

We are using a back winder on A.T. Naturally it is somewhat awkward. There should be plenty of specimens on English and foreign cars.

How does Waltham arrange it?

Would it help the back winding if geared, and looking down, bevel or other gears to swing about while putting through board?

DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} should look into this matter with BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Perhaps EFC. could help at Derby, or HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'. dept., who pass other instruments - electrical, mechanical, or others. Don't rely on me, and don't let the job stop. Hammer away or we shall get nowhere.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
