X7080 S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}..from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT6.3.33. 40/50 H.P. Semi-expanding carburetter silencer. When testing 20-MY (London Trials) to-day I found the car nice to handle and the performance quite good having regard to what we expect; steering very good - but my enjoyment of the car was greatly prejudiced by the carburetter noises (the old fuss and roar), which we have done so much successfully to prevent on chassis 19-EX and 58-GN, with the large silencer. This great improvement, in the absence of noise at the higher speeds accompanied by the better performance, provided a car which we shall of course wish to boost through the publicity point of view in every way directly these conditions are available, and I cannot think of any improvement in this type of chassis which is more urgent at the present moment. 20-MY is no better or no worse in this respect than 48-MS. Will you please let me know what you think may be the earliest likely date when the silencer modification can be brought into production. PN.{Mr Northey} | ||
