contd:- -3- X.4481 X.4318 fixings. Instructions for shortening the rear tank at least ½" so as to clear more securely the rear spring has been attended to by Mr. Evernden. The distributing board has already been sent. For the present we can use a Bleriot dynamo cut-out fitted on the dashboard. “egarding the Auto-vac, we do not seem to get much sense out of these people and I suggest we fit a Stewart which I understand is a better fitting and gives satisfaction on many American cars. You will remember that there are detachable spring fittings for the front end of the rear spring so as to permit this being taken down without disturbing the valance. These fittings should be adopted in place of the original ones which did not give this facility. “Mr. Day informs us that there are springs for about 1,000 lbs. which ought to give fairly decent riding if those we tested were suitable for 1300 lbs. “egarding the exhaust system, this was to pass outside the undershield for the sake of keeping the floorboards cool, and part of it might be wrapped up in asbestos and jacketed in sheet iron to make it more silent. I have suggested that the silencer be made of concentric chambers. It may be longer than the one seen, and will probably have to have a capacity equal to half of the 40/50 H.P. before we can expect good silence without loss of horse power. contd:- | ||
