Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.976 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T11/F11.8.20 X.976 RE PETROL X41586 X985 Replying to your Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}8/NJ10.8.20, we have discussed this matter with Mr. Hives and should be glad if you could let us know at what price we are obtaining Mex.No.1. and at what price we could obtain Shell. We propose, unless there is a great difference in the price, to have small regular supplies of Shell and correspondingly reduce our supplies of Mex if this is possible. We do not want to change over immediately from Mex to Shell, in view of the fact that we have overcome all the difficulties of supplies with the Mex people, and they are now giving regular and good deliveries, and we want to make sure that production work is not delayed. If the prices are reasonable, we should propose reducing our demands for Mex to about 75% of the present demands, and replacing the extra 25% with Shell. EP{G.
