1029 18th October 1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}2/AP. The New-Hudson Co.Ltd., Ickneild Street, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr.Frazer. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of 16th Oct. and enclosures. Unfortunately the rubber dust cover on the front brakes has to pass over a section of metal .500" square (see enclosed drawing) and we have ascertained that the rubbers supplied for the rear brakes will not pass over a .500" dia. bar. The short link is necessary to get correct steering and wheel movement geometry, and the normal construct- of a jaw on a threaded rod is not suitable on such a short link, nor would it help much. Therefore we think that we shall have to use your original leather dust cover which can be sewn up in position, unless you can make any other suggestion. This will apply to the six sets of brakes now on order. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
