2 R.H.7923 A Cutter revolving at 125 Rpm., and Cam revolving at 250 Rpm., as seen apparently stationary by the light of the Oscilloscope lamp. Time of exposure, three minutes. R.H.7924 The Cutter and Cam, illustrated above, photographed by daylight when stationary. 3 THE ELVERSON OSCILLOSCOPE. The behaviour of fast moving machinery under actual full load working conditions differs so much from the theoretical, because of the many unknown stresses then set up in the various parts, that it is ONLY by actual observation under such conditions that a correct analysis can be obtained of its true behaviour and of the causes of defects. The OSCILLOSCOPE is the only instrument which, without much preparation, shows the true behaviour of machinery under actual full load working conditions. In investigations of machinery in motion, it obviates the necessity of prolonged hit-and-miss methods of testing and rapidly gives you accurate information, which cannot be obtained so accurately or easily by any other known means; in investigations of various processes, it rapidly enables you to ascertain definitely how and to what extent such processes can be speeded-up or modified to advantage, or how wastage can be entirely eliminated. There is no branch of Industry in which the OSCILLOSCOPE has not proved to be of the utmost value, and it is used by numerous well-known Engineering Firms throughout the World. It has a large range of applications and, although only a few known uses are here briefly described, full information will be gladly supplied on receipt of particulars of the nature of the application contemplated. The OSCILLOSCOPE is intended for tests on all forms of machinery in motion, whether rotary or reciprocating, and for tests on all accessories connected with such machinery in motion. The OSCILLOSCOPE IS ACTUALLY USED for tests on all such forms of machinery and accessories, as: Automobile Engines Aeroplane Engines Diesel and Semi-Diesel Engines Steam and Water Turbines Textile Machines Electrical Machines Magnetos and their Drives Magneto Timing Carburetters Chain Drives Lubricating Systems | ||
