RECEIVED 28 OCT 1931 P. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X5010 . BY.20/G.1.10.31 Now that we are going ahead with R's scheme for balancing, having abandoned the Chrysler idea, this will enable us to order up some 20/25 HP. forgings from the dies which were modified to your drawing LeC. 2908. We propose to increase the diameter of the journals to bring them into line with your later scheme, but we did not intend to increase the width of the web up to the full 3.450 shown on LeC.2952. We are using the large crankpin, 2" instead of 1¾". On your LeC. 2908 and LeC. 2952 you do not show any method of locking the stud securing the balance weight. This leaves the design open to criticism, as it appears to me essential to have a locked stud when securing a piece so vital as a balance weight to a crankshaft. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
