re Chassis 1 GN.
----------------

With further reference to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/MJ.27.7.32, and our Brl/H.29.7.32, regarding the above car, will you please let us know if you are yet in a position to do anything with regard to the recurrent loss of tappet clearance.

The owner is still experiencing the trouble, and is now rather pushing us to do something on his behalf.

With reference to this matter, I hope it will not be out of order to offer you a suggestion. I understand that a lot of people who deal with racing cars at Brooklands etc. use K.E.965 valve steel for the manufacture of exhaust valves. This steel is supplied by Messrs Kayzer Ellison & Co. and good results are obtained. It is quite possible, however, that you are well aware of this steel, and that there may be some objection to its use.

Perhaps you will be good enough to let us know if you are any nearer a solution of the trouble.
