N-W. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}from Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} X4117. Br1/H.29.7.32. re Chassis 1 GN ------ Thank you for your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/MJ.27.7.32. We note your remarks and are sorry to see that you are not yet in a position to let us have anything in the way of special valves. With regard to the tappets, these are already in as good a condition as possible, and they are always carefully set and run at .006" clearance. It is under these conditions that the tappet clearance is always lost after a long and fast run. We note that you are pursuing special tests with a view to eliminating the trouble. We are, therefore, telling our customer that as soon as we are in a position to do something to help him, we will tackle the job. Will you, therefore, please let us know when you can do something.
