ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT ON FIRST PEREGRINE CHASSIS
FOR 10,000 MILES TEST.
X6146

We give below a summary of the electrical and ignition units which should be fitted to this chassis :-

(1) DYNAMO. This is to be a D.Sch.529, 20/25 dynamo as now fitted. British Carbon brushes should be fitted to this dynamo, grade G20, for test.

(2) STARTER MOTOR. The gear ratio should be 13 : 1. At present the old 11 : 1 ratio flywheel is fitted on 2.Per.II. British Carbon brushes grade M75 should be fitted to the motor in place of standard.

(3) SWITCHBOX. This should be modified as instructed by D.O. to prevent the difficulty which has arisen due to the ignition being on in the S & T position.

(4) BATTERY & BATTERY BOX. The battery will be the Exide type 6.XCM1-1ML and the battery box should be coated with Arconal acid resisting lead paint.

(5) IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR. This should be brought up-to-date by fitting the new cam, which the D.O. have yet to instruct. The condenser should also have the new connector D.53861 fitted. We should like to have this distributor in the laboratory in order to check the cam and rotor position and set the points before the chassis goes.

(6) LUCAS H.F.725 HORNS. We are having a pair of horns specially tuned for G.W.H. and these will require two special brackets making in order to mount them directly beneath each head lamp as on 19-GIV and 19-EX. We should be glad if you could have these brackets designed and made to suit the headlamp pillars.
