RR.F. CAMSHAFT DRIVE. LeC.2587

We send you herewith the above drg. shewing modifications to be made to existing engines to improve the end location of the camshaft drive.

The new parts required have been kept down to the minimum, but it will be necessary to change the bevel pinion housing, and to supply new pieces in respect to a plate for retaining the ball bearing, another piece for taking the thrust, and a top coupling with shorter boss and teeth. The existing bevel pinion and coupling shaft are used, but the latter piece is reamed out taper at the top end to receive a hardened thrust button.

The lower portion of the camshaft drive should be used intact, as also the telescopic oil retaining casing.

A small modification is required to the sheet metal guard which retains the speedometer drive. On the side where no speedometer drive is used, or where a gas starter is fitted, it will be necessary to provide an equivalent piece for the oil deflector formed by the speedometer drive cap.
