Coachbuilders Conference No 6.

Held at Conduit Street on the 26th September 1919 at 3 p.m.

(6) New Steering Column Positions.

The matter of the new steering column positions, in conjunction with the long chassis, was discussed. It was the unanimous opinion of the Conference that recommendations should be made to Mr. Royce to abolish the present "A" steering on short chassis and use in its place the long chassis with "B" steering. This will mean a bigger proportion of the long chassis than if the present "A" and short chassis were retained.

With reference to the "C" and "D" position proposed by Derby as the future standard in place of the two present "C" and "D" positions, this is a matter which should have very careful consideration by the Coachbuilders before Derby standardise it, as suitable for many tall drivers.
[Handwritten annotation with an arrow pointing to the word 'as': it is believed that the proposed "C" & "D" column will not be this (crossed out)]

The general opinion of Barkers and Sales Dept. was that the present positions of the "C" and "D" columns should not be departed from at present.
