XY 340. Mr. Rose, CHASSIS NO. 23-EX. Axles Nos. VK15, X135, X165 were run on Dyno during the night, also prop shaft period tests were taken as instructed. Nos. X & VK15 were run 20 mls. each, X165 35 miles, this extra mileage on X165 to bring in prop. shaft tests. Re prop. shaft tests - I used pneumatic tyres (dyno) to give smoother running. I have made out a chart of running and method of testing. Only at 50 miles per hour full throttle could any vibration from prop. shaft be felt with the axle-buffer clearance as low as 2 and 2 1/4". The measurements of running out of truth were taken midway between front and rear mechanics joints. Between 45 and 50 m.p.h the most vibration appears to take place, and below 45 m.p.h any violence in vibration fades out. | ||
