X.4065 RE NEW FIXING FOR SHOCK ABSORBER BALL.
-----------------------------

In looking into the above piece it appears
to us almost impossible to do up the spring clip nuts when
the bosses are added to the axle. Would you therefore
kindly arrange to take a scrap axle and braze on some bosses
of the dimensions proposed, in order to try out whether you
can actually tighten up the spring clips, as the boss appears
to be too close and would prevent you turning the spanner
sufficiently far to get on to the nut again at the next step.

The drawing I am talking about is the N.scheme
385. Mr Booth can show you a layout with the nuts in position
which would show clearly where we think the difficulty will be
likely to arise.

The possible remedy would be to move the shock
absorber further out towards the wheel - this, however, would
involve new packing pieces on the frame. These latter have
only recently been completed as die castings, the moulds for
same being pretty expensive.
