HEATERS.

A series of tests has been carried out on 1-R-1;
in the first place to determine the efficacy of the R.R.
shield on the Hadees heater, and in the second place to
compare the Hadees with the A.C. heater.

The tests do show that the shield does some
good in warming up the interior of the body a little more
quickly. Against this, however, must be set the fact that
the driver's left foot gets unpleasantly hot as can be seen
from the curves 1.B and 2.B in fig.2. In addition it will
be seen from curves 1.C, 2.C and 3.C in fig.2 that the rear
passengers really cannot tell the difference when the shield is
in use.

The A.C. heater was not expected to compare well with
the Hadees. From the curves there does not seem to be very much
difference, but, in fact, on the road the A.C. seems definitely
inadequate for a car of the size of 1-R-1. It just warms one's
feet sufficiently, but one cannot dispense with one's overcoat
as can be done quite comfortably with the Hadees.

Summing up we do not consider that the shield is worth
having on the Hadees. We consider that the A.C. heater should
be quite good on a small car but it must be born in mind that
there are no defroster connections on it.
