To:- Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Valve Spring Temperature. In reply to your memo 12.4.40, which has only recently been handed to us to deal with, we have no record of valve spring temperature in flight. All we can say is that the maximum temperature is below 450°C the tempering temperature of the wire, and probably below 350°C.
