Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. West. WST hsten HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/STD Dear Sirs, Re: Oil Filter. With reference to the above which is described in the enclosed reprint from the "Automobile Engineer" we now have pleasure in informing you that we are taking the liberty of forwarding under separate cover marked for your attention - One No. 2 size Filter for test purposes. We feel confident that you will be absolutely satisfied with this device as it ensures perfectly clean oil in the sump throughout its working life. We are also enclosing you instructions in regard to fitting and would particularly mention that for efficient operation it is necessary for the Filter, if possible, to be close to the exhaust manifold in order to ensure that there is sufficient heat in the Filter to ensure correct viscosity. The writer will be pleased to call and see you to discuss this matter if there are any further details you require. Yours faithfully, p.p. S SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED.
