as our experiments have recently suggested to us that the condenser capacity might be increased a little to advantage.

With reference to the rusting up of the roller, this may be due to slight oscillatory discharges taking place between the roller and its bearing, as it is quite possible, and even likely, that some amount of sparking takes place at this point, due to induced high frequency oscillations. This would not seem likely at first sight, but it is shown to be possible by the fact that if the contact breaker casing is earthed through a piece of wire to our cast iron table, small sparks may be obtained between the end of a similar wire, the other end of which is also connected to the casing, and the table, indicating the momentary existence of 300 or 400 volts between points which one would think, at first sight, were absolutely equal in potential.
