RE OPEN BODY FOR E.A.C.VIII.

We hope that you were able to make out our phone message this morning re an open body for the above expl. chassis which has to be ready to go to France in a few weeks time. It is agreed that the only hope lies in obtaining a stock body which is as nearly completed as possible and to modify it to suit the chassis in question. This E.A.C.VIII. is a short chassis "D" type steering, but has its pedals and steering wheel 2.500 ins. nearer the dash, which itself is 1.500 ins. forward of its present position. This latter feature can be overcome by moving the body forward on the chassis relative to the back axle. The wheel will then be 2.500 ins. nearer the screen. There lies the trouble unless we can find a body with a very short scuttle or one with a screen which we can modify to give the clearance by reducing the screen angle.

Would you therefore send us by return such body prints as you feel most suitable when a little drawing will soon shew what we can hope to do.

We shall be unable to let the coachbuilders have the chassis so the body will be sent to our Expl. Dept. togeth with a set of standard wings and valances and they will do the rest.

The dash is the 36. ins. wide type, and of course we do not wish to fit a subframe in this case.

Would you also give us a rough date when you can expect to deliver the body and wings to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
