RE BARKER TORPEDO FOR CHASSIS E.A.C.VIII. X7830

Messrs Barkers wired this morning that they now discover that the work called for to modify the standard torpedo SD.4782A in order to make it suitable for E.A.C.VIII. will take them about three weeks from last Friday Jan.29th. 1926. We have been on the phone to them and cannot get any detail information except that the scuttle modifications are more extensive than were anticipated.

As far as the writer can see we may anticipate having the body by Feb. 20th. In order to speed up the job we have arrangedd they shall send you at once a set of standand wings (front only) and valances so that you may get going on these . They are also sending you a set of running boards on which you will no doubt have to do some work. On receipt of the body, having got the front wings and valances up, themounting should not take more than a c couple of days.

You will see from our previous memo that we have ordered side curtains to be fitted. If these are not needed it would save us a few days. Please let us know if you wish us to continue with them.

We shall do all we can to hurry up the job and will report progress.
