have had a good run to Marseilles and back today with three up and the car has run very well. The only trouble experienced was with the governor spring which got caught underneath the magneto control lever.

Todays' run has been reported already by letter dated 20.2.20.

To Hyeres and back in the morning and in the afternoon I found it necessary to repair the top water pipe at the front "T" joint again. I think this leak has been caused by the bracket for the H.T. wire carrier nipping the tube and thereby breaking the soldered joint.

Sunday - 22-2-20
To Toulon and back with a little local running.

Monday - 23.2.20
Started away with three up this morning and about twenty one miles out the Dunlop steel studded tyre again blew off the rim while going at not more than 15 M.P.H. The tube was a Dunlop with bolt valve. The spare wheel which had a Goodyear on it was put on and ran for thirty miles then burst again (This was after we pickup Lord Montague who was driving when the second burst occurred). On arrival at Nice I was able to buy another steel studded Dunlop and tube, the only tyre available of that size. From Nice we went by the mountain route to Menton and when climbing I noticed the thermometer go up to 100°C and as we went up higher to where it was much cooler the temperature dropped to 90°C. The engine pulled very well all the time.

Tuesday - 24-2-20
Lord Montague has driven all the way from Menton to St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Raphael where he left the car. Between there and Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence the Dunlop Magnum on O.S. front wheel burst. This tyre has done 5025 and has not been touched since leaving the works.

This morning I went to Hyeres and back and this afternoon I have had a very good run to Nice and back. The piston rattle was again noticeable at high speeds but not so bad as on the 20th. Before going to Nice I fitted a new cover (Magnum) to the spare wheel in place of the one which burst yesterday and also adjusted the dynamo belt.

I have heard the elusive knock on one or two occasions. The starting from cold knock in No.1 disappears after a few seconds running as also does the knock in No 3 which has only appeared lately.

Mileage for the week 850 - Petrol Cons: 310. T.H.Maddocks.
