Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} c. to Mr Cowan. [Handwritten] A C.K. X.3757 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T18/F23.2.20. X 3054 [crossed out] RE PRODUCTION CAR FOR EXPERIMENTAL WORK. With reference to the above, and with regard to the arrangements made at the conference at the Midland Hotel on Friday last, we will arrange to hand to you one production chassis per month for experimental purposes. It will be necessary for you to arrange that the chassis is not retained more than a month, and that it is returned to us in good condition at the end of this time, and in such a state that the production tests can proceed forthwith. Meantime, we understand that you require a chassis on which to continue the tests of the latest aluminium pistons and that you want a chassis fitted with an engine which has already developed the knock reported by us, if possible. We have been able to arrange with Sales Dept. for you to have chassis 53-CW. on the understanding that you do not require this for more than a week or a fortnight. We trust, in view of this concession, that you will not retain this chassis for more than this period. In the meantime we will allot another. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T.
