Hollingworth} 18.3.57 1110 Experimental Report Ch.2339 Adjacent Speaker and Radio I have had a look at D.116 AR, which I understand has all the proposed modifications incorporated. My own view is that the new arrangement, though acceptable in principle, falls down in quality of finish when compared with the old scheme. The four visible fixing screws along the base of the detachable facia are a poor feature and the rounded top corners referred to in the report as constituting an improvement to the appearance are to my mind the opposite of this. The plastic gauze mesh used on present cars gets by because it is more deeply recessed than it is on the new scheme and also when separated into two smaller apertures is less conspicuous. I think in the circumstances some form of expanded metal mesh might look better. The Panax surround to the radio control facia is perfectly acceptable provided it is always matched to the colour of the veneer and polished. JPB | ||
