To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. Mr. Brock. c. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X 4383. EFC1/T18.1.23. X.4383 - RE OUTPUT OF GOSHAWK DYNAMO. Would you kindly note that experiments have now indicated to us that the output of the Goshawk dynamo can be increased by movement (retard) of the control brush, to some extent, without danger of overheating. Therefore we are now instructing that our maximum figure of 10 amperes in Par. 4, p.2, of the Specification of Test. be increased to 12 amperes, in which case the dynamo terminal voltage must also be altered to be not more than 14.9. As this only involves alteration in two figures, it is not necessary to issue new sheets, but will you kindly make the alterations on the copies in your possession. This alteration to the specification will meet the complaint in the Test Dept. that the dynamos are not giving sufficient output. It is understood that if the slots provided for the control brush movement do not admit of this peak being obtained in all instances, the length of the slot must be increased for this purpose.
