11th February, 1938.

Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

Dear Sirs,

Attention of Mr. Matthews.

Many thanks for your letter of the 9th inst., in connection with the Aluminium-tin bearings.

The sets of bearings which we are proceeding to manufacture at the present moment are for the new Touring Car being produced by the E.R.A. You have, of course, already supplied trial bearings for this job as well as for their racing cars. We will certainly keep you informed of any new firms other than those you have listed in your letter of the 2nd February to Mr. Howlett, and we should certainly very much appreciate your coming along on any occasion when we are likely to discuss this bearing and will have much pleasure in availing ourselves of your expert advice.

The writer gathered from a discussion at your Works that there were many points bound up with the successful running, not only of these bearings, but bearings in general, such as lubricating system, hardness of shaft and so on, which affect the performance of bearings, and as we do not pretend to have in any way entered this field, which we should imagine is a very wide one, we shall certainly be glad to avail ourselves of your services.

Yours faithfully,
For WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS LTD.,
F.{Mr Friese} Blackith.
Technical Manager.
