Attention of Mr. Richards.

21st March, 1938.

Messrs. High Duty Alloys Ltd.,
Slough,
Bucks.

Dear Mr. Richards,

We thank you very much for calling at our Works on Thursday last when we had the pleasure of discussing the RR. AC.6. and AC.7 bearing, and as you were able to see we are making some progress regarding the casting of these, having produced the dies and a number of bearings, which are being machined at the present moment for E.R.A. of Bourne, Lincs.

We were interested to note that no definite experience had been obtained on the road form of the AC.7. bearing and that only friction tests had been carried out on same. We will therefore not confuse ourselves in any way by using this material at the present moment, but will, if possible, adopt your suggestions of sticking to the one material for all purposes, if that can possibly be arranged.

We agree that it would simplify the supply of bearings to use one material.

We have instructed our Works to forward three bearings of each type, fully heat treated so that you may investigate the condition of same, as regards casting and heat treatment generally, and let us have the value of your opinion regarding same.

Yours faithfully,
For WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS LTD.,
