SECRET X7770 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Mr. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. SS.{S. Smith} re. Fuss or Roar of the Engine. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}20/E1.7.29 Many thanks for R5/M26.6.29. You will remember that, when you called here last Thursday, I was away at Derby, and one of the main items for discussion was the contents of my memo. in regard to Sales officials tests of 21-EX. I was very much relieved to find that all concerned at Derby were in agreement with the fairness of the criticism made on the particular point or points indicated and summarised in the last paragraph of the memo. in question. I am sorry if the memo. seemed to you to give the impression that much improvement had not been achieved in this chassis. Such was not my intention and in conversation at the conference at Derby I think I made it clear that we were really very pleased with the improvements on the points you emphasize in your memo. I am confident that it will be possible to overcome the criticism of fuss or roar referred to. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
