Dear Sirs, In response to your note of the 17th instant, where you say you have experienced trouble on your Bentley and 25/30 cars owing to stretching and disintegration of water pump coupling discs to E.53983, which is partly due to oil getting on the disc and causing disintegration. We are having two samples prepared, one 3/8" thick which will be coated with rubber 3/32" thick; this is our standard rubber covering. The other will be 5/16" thick, with a special thinner rubber covering. It is difficult to obtain a rubber that is oil-proof and retains its flexibility, but on the two samples which are being specially put through, perhaps you will be good enough to check which of these is suitable to you. In each of the two cases we are giving you a slightly stronger disc, but we must bear in mind that by the substitution of rubber for canvas we are, for the thickness of the rubber, losing to some extent tensile strength.
