1114. To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Mr.Toplis. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.7/AP.30.12.36. On our recent visit to Messrs John Marston's Works, we discussed with Mr.Dunn the question of three oil coolers which you have returned to them for replacement, owing to burrs etc. on the union threads. Mr.Dunn pointed out that the coolers in question were quite serviceable and that replacement of the unions almost amounts to building new coolers. He agreed, however, that the unions of the matrix units should not be damaged in this manner and undertook to replace free of charge any future oil coolers which we might reject for this defect, if we would accept the three coolers in question. We think that the threads on the coolers in question could be cleaned up by our fitters here, so that these coolers would be fit for production use, and so we agreed to this arrangement. Will you therefore obtain the three coolers in question from Marstons and pass them on to Production with the proviso that the threads should be rectified as mentioned above. Any coolers received in future with damaged threads must of course be returned for replacement. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
