Re - Cast Iron Baffle for Silencer.

We have today despatched to Mr. Wyman a casting for this part produced without proper pattern equipment, and therefore heavier than is actually necessary.

The fabricated steel baffle weighs 5½ lbs. Assuming .125" metal thickness with first class pattern equipment we could get the weight down to 10 lbs on the present design. This could be further improved both from the production and weight point of view by modifying the core shape as shown below, this would further reduce the weight to 8½ lbs.

Regarding the material, we anticipate that the sample despatched may be rather hard, since we do not carry a stock of high phosphorus/silicon pig iron, and have had to rely entirely on innoculation, but should the proposition still show promise we could immediately arrange for a small quantity of this material to be supplied, and run off a further sample casting.
