SpectreCodename for Phantom III No. 10 Unit - 100% Strip Examination. Crankcase & Bearings. Crankcase Top Half - general condition good. Crankcase Lower Half - general condition good. Solder cracked at Nos. 5 & 6 branch connections on main oil gallery pipe. Main Bearings (RR W/MT) - general condition poor and Nos. 1 to 5 upper half bearings and No. 6 lower half bearing have been rejected on account of metal cracked and broken away from shell. Crankshaft. (Bal.Weights - V.C.M. type) Bow .010". General condition good. Slight wear on all journals and slight rust pitting on crankpins. Connecting Rods. Slight pitting on arched backs of forked rods. Small end bushes tight in rods owing to carbon deposit. All rods passed magnetic test. White-metal breaking away from all big-end bearings in the bore. General condition good apart from bearings. Cylinders. Heads - Satisfactory apart from slight ovality at the bottom end of all exhaust valve guides and light pitting on both inlet and exhaust inserts (see chart for actual valve guide wear) Liners - Slightly lipped at upper end of bores but otherwise in good condition (see chart for wear) Pistons. Light scoring on all skirts and slight pitting in several gudgeon pin bores (chalk test passed) All rings free in grooves. | ||
