To CK.{Mr Clark} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. " " BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} EL STARTER SW BATT IGN COIL CONST'N ORIGINAL R2/G7/1/20. 1EX 2EX X3129 RE BATTERY IGNITION ETC. X.3768 X.3445 X.3034 STARTER SWITCH.- On 1EX. the starter switch is very low down on the dash, much lower than we indicated. It is very awkward to reach valves for adjustment, also if our instructions had been followed, the cable could pass the other side of the engine foot, and therefore be away from the hot pipes. IGNITION COIL.- Let me know if I am incorrect in concluding that every layer of secondary winding is separated from its neighbour by three layers of oiled paper, i.e. after every layer is wound in three layers of paper are used. My impression is that a piece that would make just over two layers would be ample and nothing could be gained by more. Test this, confirm also calculation by experiment, as to effect of gauge of wire. Slow running is much improved by sparking plug points being .035" apart. X.3713 I am very pleased with this ignition with the coil in new position as now on 1EX. See this is the same on 2EX. and impress BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} and WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} for all other chassis to be like 1EX.
