With reference to the stone guard for the Bentley rear foot brake equalizer that has been made and fitted to 3.B.IV, it is designed to cure a complaint which has occurred twice only in Bentley history. Although it may be a useful shield to give to a customer who has complained, we do not think there is any necessity to go to the expense of fitting to all cars. If a stone jams in the rear foot brake equalizer all that happens is that the driver loses the use of his rear foot brake. He has his front brakes, pedal operated, and his hand brake, and could stop very effectively, assuming his brakes were in adjustment. We know from experience that stones can jump up and jam in the steering gear, and yet we take no action, although this is a much more serious affair, if it occurs.
