C... from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} x7960 PN.{Mr Northey}6/WT23.6.30. x7960 x4550 x7820 1-WJ: fitted with Experimental Tyre New Silent Tread Tyre. I gave this car a run yesterday, having the four wheels which came from Derby fitted with this new tread. Incidentally the wheels were 1" less in diameter. Fortunately on my return to London the rain fell fairly heavily, and the roads became extremely slippery. My impression of the tyres is that they are a little bit noisier than standard silent tread, but nothing offensive. I could not, during the run I made, get the impression that these tyres tended to avoid slipping more than the standard silent tread would have done. I have no doubt in my mind that these tyres will have somewhat better non-slipping qualities because of the difference in the tread, but probably the amount of improvement will be so slight as to make it difficult to form any just opinion as to the extent.
