X.1402 AT THE OFFICE. 14, Panton St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} LONDON. S.W.L 17th February, 1919 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby. Attention of M.R.W.G. Bailey. Dear Sir, X.3521 - DYNAMO FOR ROLLS-ROYCE CHASSIS. X.294+- X.1402 With further reference to the above and to our telephone conversation with Mr. Clark this afternoon we have pleasure in advising you that we have to-day received a cable from America giving us details of Generator which is supplied by Remy to the Stearns Company. The Stearns Company is the same Company who have been manufacturing Rolls-Royce parts and they also make for their own car a very heavy 8-cyl. Knight Engine. On account of the stiffness of the engine when cold it was necessary to use a design of Starting Motor which drew a very heavy amperage from the Starting Battery which in turn necessitated a design of Generator which would rapidly replenish a depleted Battery and it is this type of Generator of which we are hoping you will desire us to supply you with a sample. Its specifications are briefly as follows:- Starts charging at . 440 r.p.m. Charges at 12 amps at 630 r.p.m. Weight 35 lbs. Diameter 5 3/4" Length overall 12" It is fitted with our well known Thermostatic control with which we have already acquainted your Company. Contd. S00905 BLF16005S (L052) GSD879 19-2-47/BLF | ||
