Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.

With regard to one of the webs in the crown of this same Piston, we can assure you that the appearance does not indicate porosity. The web is quite sound and the point you complain about arises from the dressing of the core. All these Pistons were very carefully examined before being sent to you and we are quite satisfied that they are suitable for use in your engine. The criticism of the core dressing has of course been passed on to the Foundry as we have no intention of lowering our previous standard in this respect.

We shall be interested to have news of the Pistons EW.2170, particularly with regard to the skirt marking as compared with the 3½" model.

Yours faithfully,
FOR THE LIGHT PRODUCTION CO.LTD.

K.N. Brooks

GENERAL MANAGER.
