To CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

With reference to the Mason 'safety first' cord tyres. We should not consider 50% additional weight over the Dunlop would put these tyres outside the realms of consideration. The extra weight would, of course, be a definite disadvantage and therefore the advantages would have to be considerable in order for the tyres to show an alround improvement.

If it was possible to obtain a description of the tyre and the advantages claimed, we should be able to form a very good opinion as to whether the claims for them were justified.

Our present-day criticisms of tyres go far beyond ordinary wear and tear and non-skid qualities. We have to consider noise caused by the tyre, vibrations of the tyre, resiliency of the tyre, stability of the tyre etc.

We should anticipate that if the Mason Tyre has achieved success in a certain direction, it will be at the expense of other features which we consider are desirable.
