COVENTRY.

Dear Mr. Wilks,

With further reference to my letter of the 7th inst., I have since seen the further correspondence between Mr. Robotham and Mr. Morley and yourself.

Morley's offence was such that it was necessary to make an example of him and his dismissal was on the grounds that it had come to my knowledge that he was exploiting his position in an advanced development division of Rolls-Royce as a bait for a better job with other Companies - I assuming that yours was not the only Company to whom he had written.
The fact that he subsequently wrote you a protesting letter shows, however, that my assumption was wrong and I regret very much that, although you had not been mentioned in my discussion with Morley, I nevertheless unwittingly transgressed your request to Robotham not further to involve you in this matter. (I was unable to contact him at the time and had to take prompt action.)

Please accept my sincere apologies for any annoyance so caused.

Yours very truly,
