WYMAN MODIFIED EXHAUST TAIL PIPE - BENTLEY 50. File Gsp Please receive herewith :- E.CD.716 Modified Tail Pipe (Front End) Bentley 50. E.CD.717 Modified Tail Pipe (Rear End) Bentley 50. These modifications are made to suit the application of Rolls-Royce type shock dampers to the rear wheels as called for on F.CD.677. The tail pipe now has to pass underneath the petrol tank instead of alongside it. A new rear support bracket welded to the rear cross member is shown as the revised shape of petrol tank fouls the previous clamp fixing for this support. It should be noted that the hole in the frame cross for tail pipe is altered to allow increased clearance when assembling tail pipe. We have not moved the forward flange of tail pipe to the position rear of the frame gusset, as was done on the first Bentley 50 car in the Experimental Shop, as this makes it practically impossible to drop the silencer without stripping the chassis and we think the changing of the silencer is more important than the changing of the tail pipe, moreover, we know it is just possible to assemble the tail pipe with the flange in the position shown and with the aid of the increased hole in framecross. The forward support bracket for tail pipe is as shown on E.CD.674. The original design of tail pipe to E.CD.609 is replaced by this modified design. Will you please detail and instruct the necessary parts experimentally. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
