S/W {Sales / Derby Works} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Please reply 1282, HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 06/09.2.37 Re PHANTOM III DECARBONISATION. ------- We appear to be rather uncertain here and at Cricklewood as to how long a car should run before we advise:- (1) Top Decarbonising. (2) Bottom Decarbonising. There is no word about this in the instruction book, and Br. {T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} has had no experience so far, and, as a matter of fact, is just doing his first decarb. There seems to be an idea at Cricklewood, however, that a Phantom III will not require decarbonising at 10,000 miles, as we advise on our other cars. We would therefore like to know what advice to give at Cricklewood and for the Inspecting Engineers. If the car can cover a bigger mileage without decarbonising, then, of course, the increased cost of doing the job over the Phantom II will be to some extent cancelled out. C;. | ||
