S/W {Sales / Derby Works} Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} ..from C. 1292 WST C6/C6.2.37 Ethyl LEAD FUEL IN BENTLEY CARS. ----------- With reference to C8/C29.1.37, my memo. was not quite completed. I had intended to refer to another remark in your memo. namely that there were only a few people affected. K. {Mr Kilner} during January attended to 12 cases of misfiring due to the use of Ethyl, as follows:- B.192.AH. Mann. B. 84.BN. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Cobbold. B.32.FB. - B.145.DK. Hardie. B. 68.DG. Higgs. B. 43.EJ. Turner. B. 18.BN. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Grey. B. 33.GP. Lane. B. 35.HM. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Newall. B. 34.GA. Dodds.!! B. 9.HM. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Kerman. B. 61.HM. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Blackwell. We have also looked through some Inspection Reports for January, and we find that sparking plug trouble was reported with:- B.175.CW. Withy. B.75.GP. Forwood. B. 7.BN. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Jardine. B.139.AE. Adeney. B.66.GA. Ford. B.196.AH. Trehearne Thomas. B.166.EF. Ainslie. B.62.DG. Mackay. B.10.DG. Thompson. In addition, of course, we had a very large number of complaints regarding Rolls-Royce cars after our recommendation of Ethyl - in fact Cricklewood one morning had six cars there at the same time for the same trouble. So that you can imagine how it gets round among drivers. C. | ||
