G.W.H.- Attached is a reply we Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/APM have had from A.P.M. to your two notes Bentley Tipping Shoes and Brake Squeak Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

We agree with GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} that the design of Bentley tipping shoes is not such as to give the same loading a every car, but:-
On 6B IV recently GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} proved conclusively that 80 lbs load gave immunity from squeaks
On the memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}2/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 20.5.37 he asks for a 70 lbs load, minimum
On the memo dated 28-5-37 he asks for a 55-60 lbs load.
He always used to ask for a 40-50 lbs load.
Until G.W.H. decides what load he really wants design modifications are useless.
