well known in London. Unfortunately, the failure of the differential casing caused other damage to the axle.

We have had to send a man to Rome to attend to chassis B.155.JY, belonging to Lady Scarsdale. Our man informed us that N°6 piston had badly seized up. We have sent a new cylinder block and pistons etc.. to Rome. This is going to be a very expensive job.

Mr. Bourlon, owner of chassis B.197.JY, sent his car to us for attention re noisy axle. We find that the gears, especially the pinion, have badly picked up. We also found that there was hardly any oil in the axle. This car has only been in service a fairly short time. As the owner was in need of his car, we only had time to ease the score marks of the pinion by stoning. We think the trouble is due to the failure of the off side oil seal, as there has been an oil leakage from the o/s axle tube.

We have recently fitted a set of latest type main bearings to B.8.GA, Sr.'s car. This has cured a very pronounced roughness which previously existed.

We are very busy at Rue Gide. The holiday season is now over and we are making up for lost time.

For your own information, the Rue Gide premises are going to be enlarged, and it is about time. As you are aware, when we get about 3 Phantom III cars in the shops, plus a few Bentleys, we are about full up. Anyway, when the place has been enlarged, we shall be able to prevent men walking over one another.

I had a very decent holiday in England. Motored from Bristol to Scarborough via Gloucester, Worcester, Shrewsbury and over the Yorkshire moors. However, we unavoidably missed Sheffield.?

Pleased give my kind regards to Mr. Clarke. Sorry I missed you when I called at Kingsbury.

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely,
SR/VA

P.S.
We have just received the 8 springs from Kingsbury.
