X2049 To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Rd. Copy to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} RH.{R. Hollingworth} MF. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 27th May 1916. Na{Mr Nadin}2/S27516. re Sternol Oil. We have now received Messrs. Prices' report on the sample of Sternol Oil which we submitted to them on April 28th last, and I attach a copy herewith. It should be noted that "Sternol" is a pure hydrocarbon oil. Mr. Platford has already had some considerable experience with this oil on Aero engines, and I believe, Mr. Hives is embodying Mr. Platford's experience in his report. It is interesting to note that we paid 2/9d per gallon for Sternol Oil in January last. The price of "Castrol" is 6/- per gallon net., whilst Prices' are offering a similar* oil at 3/9d.
