Messrs. John Marstons Ltd.,
WOLVERHAMPTON.

For the attention of Mr. Dunn.

Dear Sirs,

Gauging of waterways and flow testing of radiator matrices for R.R. Ltd.

With regard to the question of checking radiator matrix water ways, which Mr. Dunn discussed with the writer when he was last at your works, we have decided that the best procedure would be for you to test one matrix in 20 by removing the bottom tanks, gauging waterways, flow testing, and redipping the tank to the block.

The matrix unit should be marked by means of a small brass disc (sweated to the bottom tank) with the letter 'M' stamped on it.

We also will test one matrix in 20 in a similar manner, except that we shall not dip the tank to the block but hand solder same, and by means of the label mentioned above we shall ensure that we do not retest units already tested by you.

In this way 1 in 10 matrices will be tested and we wish this procedure to be adopted immediately and carried on for at least 200 matrices, while a record of the test results should be kept. After 200 matrices we will decide from the test results whether more or less checking is required.

This must apply to all matrix units supplied to us with tanks fitted (at the moment Wraith and Phantom III) and we would like you to confirm to the writer that this procedure will be adopted forthwith.
