1263 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}, 14/MH.{M. Huckerby} Messrs. H.M. Hobson Components Ltd., 47/45, The Vale, Acton, London, W.3. 2nd. September 1937. For the attention of the Sales Dept. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of August 9th., and regret we have been unable to give you a result of the test before. The test has now been concluded. We have no complaints to make with regard to the operation of the guage, and it has given no trouble, remained constant through-out. The criticism leveled against it is that the scale is far too short for the size tank on which it has been fitted, giving a scale only 1" long for 33 gallons with calibration at 3, 10, 22, and 33 gallons. If it is possible to increase the length of scale on the instrument and at the same time work a warning light at say, 3 gallons the instrument might be of interest to us, subject, of course, to cost. We should like to try one of your guages on a Bentley or 25/30 where a smaller tank is used, namely 18 gallons, and when opportunity arrives will send you a tank to be fitted up and calibrated. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
